Anne Arundel Community College, Glen Burnie, MD: Macromedia Fireworks: Web Graphic Design

Part 2, of a four part continuing education core program, the fireworks course is a standard onsite course, run through the Division of Continuing Education program. The 2 week course, includes weekly lecture, hands-on practice and lab demonstrations. Classes were conducted in a PC lab and covers navigation of the application, vector artwork creation, optimization of web graphics, importing bitmaps, creation of text and slicing of graphics. Bi-weekly class meetings, tutorials, demonstrations, homework assignments and meetings with the instructor, all help lead the student to the completion of the core programs capstone project.

Howard Community College, Columbia, MD: Introduction to Web Authoring / Introduction to Flash

A 16-week standard onsite course, run through the Division of Business and Computer Systems program, included weekly lecture, hands-on practice and lab demonstrations. Classes were conducted in a 20 person PC lab and covered hand-coded HTML, Dreamweaver, image optimization (Photoshop and Fireworks), GIF animation, CSS, Flash design / authoring and design planning concepts. Weekly class meetings, tutorials, demonstrations, homework assignments and meetings with the instructor, culminated with the development of a final project for a local business or charity.

Maryland Institute, College of Art, Baltimore, MD: Introduction to HTML / Intermediate HTML

A completely online program, run through the division of Continuing Studies, students come from all walks of life, educational backgrounds, and areas of the world. Classes were conducted online, via the Blackboard Learning technology. Weekly chat sessions, tutorials, demonstrations, homework assignments and bulletin board postings culminated with a final project at the end of 13 weeks focusing on the understanding and use of HTML, web standards and CSS to create functional websites.

Northern Virginia Community College, Alexandria: Design for Web I / Design for Web II

A 16-week standard onsite course, run through the Division of Visual & Performing Arts and Public Services' Communication Design program, included weekly lecture and lab demonstrations. Classes were conducted in a 20 person Macintosh lab and covered hand-coded HTML, Dreamweaver, Photoshop, animation, CSS, and screen design concepts. Weekly class meetings, tutorials, demonstrations, homework assignments and meetings with the instructor, culminated with the development of a design document and final project.
